Make this Easy, Vegan Za’atar Hummus

A recipe to make this easy, vegan Za’atar Hummus, that can be blended up and served in under five minutes, made with chickpeas, lemon, tahini and za’atar.

It’s been a while that I have posted a recipe guys, you’ll have to excuse my tardiness, I have been blessed with a huge amount of freelance work, oh and wedding plans. The big day is about a month and a half away and we are starting to feel the pressure! Still loving every minute of the planning, though, it’s been such a special time.

Ok time to get to the point – I am here to post this easy, vegan Za’atar Hummus recipe.

What’s Za’atar?

Easy, Vegan Za'atar Hummus

My Sitto (granny in Lebanese) was a theatrical woman, with a very large personality. Everything she did, said and cooked, she did with great gusto and passion. She made a lot of complicated Lebanese dishes, some of which my family is still trying to decipher, as the ingredients were measured in dashes, pinches, handfuls and sprinkles.

One of the simplest things she ate was Za’atar, sandwiched between two very thick slices of white bread, smothered in butter.

Za’atar is a herby condiment made with dried thyme, oregano, marjoram, toasted sesame seeds and salt. It is utterly delicious thrown on to pretty much anything savoury and today I have incorporated it into this hummus.

This hummus is delicious on crackers (mine are the Gluten-Free version from Woolies), pita bread, veggie sticks and even as a spread on bread. I used one can of chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, maple syrup, lemon juice, salt and of course, Za’tar. You can add a clove of garlic, but I hate garlic, so I never add it.

Once everything is measured out, it’s added to a blender and blitzed till smooth. Store in an airtight container and this hummus should keep for a week.

Here’s the recipe to make Easy Za’atar Hummus.
