From the 27th to the 1st of December, a bunch of friends and I are going down to Cape Town for New Years and I am BEYOND excited to ring in 2019 in the Mother City! I have never experienced New Years in Cape Town before, but I have a feeling it’s going to be amazing!
One of my friends is coming all the way from the UK and has been asking me on every whatsapp call what we are doing for New Years, and I really hadn’t given it much thought. Until I realised we are halfway through October.
So, I started doing some research and in the process of collating all the information, I decided that it deserved a post!
So here’s my list of some of the best places to be for New Years in Cape Town this December, catering to a wide range of tastes – whether you want to keep it chilled, eat your body weight in canapes, or party the night away and some of the cities hottest spots (and my Joburg girl opinion on what I think the vibe will be 😂)

6. Jeremy Loops @ Kirstenbosch Gardens
What: According to many Cape Town locals on TripAdvisor, if you’re keen on watching the fireworks and want to save money on expensive dinners, consider driving up to Signal Hill, where you pack a picnic basket and watch the festivities up in the sky.
Be sure to get there early for a good spot and keep in mind there will be slow moving traffic on the way down the mountain – but that’s the case all over Cape Town on New Years it seems?
When: 31 December, as early as you can get there
Where: Signal Hill

Vibe: Can go either way – romantic watching of the fireworks or a complete an utter piss up where you loose your picnic basket and can’t find your car on the hill scenario 💍 ? 🍺
