A Review of The Northcliff Boutique Hotel

If you are looking for somewhere beautiful to stay in Johannesburg, here is A Review of The Northcliff Boutique Hotel. Set at the top of Northcliff Hill, on the second-highest natural point in the city, sits The Northcliff Boutique Hotel, overlooking what seems to be the whole of the northern suburbs of Johannesburg. The hotel, which is about 8km away from our home in Fairland, has been getting a lot of attention from the community since opening up a few months ago. The new luxury boutique hotel, events venue and restaurant is surrounded by natural beauty and amazing views. A Review of The Northcliff Boutique Hotel – Drone Footage We…

What to do in Clarens Free State

Today’s travel post is all about what to do in Clarens in the Free state. One of my favourite little towns in South Africa, Clarens is located between Bethlehem and Harrismith and is aptly titled ‘the Gem of the Free State’. Situated at the foothill of the Maloti Mountain, the location has pristine dams, rivers and streams, ideal for fly fishing which is, of course, (for Shaun and his dad) one of the major reasons we headed there… Our 4-day stay break split up into two stays –  Clarens on Collett and Sediba Lodge. Here’s What to do in Clarens Free State. Clarens on Collett Offering mountain views and crisp…

Staying at Hudson’s on 12th in Rivonia

My review on staying at Hudson’s on 12th in Rivonia. Established in 1995, ‘Melleneys Exclusive Guest House’ is now under new ownership and has been fully refurbished and re-launched as Hudsons on Twelfth Exclusive Guesthouse. Shaun and I were invited to spend an evening at the ‘new’ hotel – which very luckily fell over his birthday! We headed over there after work on a Friday afternoon for some R&R, as well as a specially prepared five-course dinner. A little history on the hotel “Melleneys” was one of the first established Guest Houses in the Rivonia area in 1995, starting off with only four rooms and was the only premises in Johannesburg…

    The Franschhoek Wine Tram

A review on The Franschhoek Wine Tram in Stellenbosch, Cape Town. Towards the end of December, I headed to Cape Town with a group of friends for New Years. The best part about it – one of my besties from the UK came down too. We had a mere five days to see each other and in and amongst the catching up – everybody had an agenda of things they wanted to do. Holidaying with ten people meant it was difficult to agree on what to do, which resulted in a lot of splitting up throughout the trip. We had all agreed one experience though – the Franschoek Wine Tram.…

    Visit Cathedral Peak Hotel

Visit Cathedral Peak Hotel, a four-hour drive from Johannesburg, nestled in the Drakensberg mountain range, is the 4-star, family-owned Cathedral Peak Hotel. The backdrop of the Cathedral Peaks and ‘bell’ blow your mind every time you look up.     Three years ago, we stayed at a hotel in the area called Didima – which is also a great place and easier on the pocket. One night, we took the 5 minute drive to Cathedral Peak Hotel for dinner and enjoyed ourselves so much that we promised to go back. So, on my Birthday weekend, I was spoiled and we did just that – and what a beautiful place to celebrate…
