Ever heard of Probiotics for your Skin?

Have you ever heard of probiotics for your skin?

If you have been following along this week, you know I am doing a guided 7 day Gut Reset with Nine Aesthetics and Nourished WellBeing.

Tomorrow is my last day of the cleanse, but I was already seeing the effects on my body by day 3, including less bloating and constipation.

Then on day 4, the bad bacteria in my gut decided they were not going out without a fight and my skin started to become sensitized and inflamed from all the toxins being released.

You see, when your body is detoxing from anything, you’ll likely go through withdrawal symptoms.

This includes having nausea, headaches and even skin problems like acne, rashes and dry skin and a facial rash is especially common if you’re on a sugar detox.

As part of the full 7 day gut reset, I also visited Nine Aesthetics Clinic in Norwood for one of three probiotic facials, as well as an RF and Cavitation Treatment.

It stands to reason that if you are going to fix the inside, you will want to fix the outside to,  considering your skin is your biggest organ.

I am going to be turning thirty in less than a month and I am starting to notice a lot of skin changes, including fine lines, pigmentation and dry skin, and this cleanse couldn’t have come at a better time.

What interested me the most is that the cleanse was going to include Skin Probiotics.

Optimal skin condition depends on the probiotic microbes living on and in it. Without microbes, your skin can’t perform its basic functions and the rate of ageing increases sharply.

Nine Aesthetics swears by Esse Skincare because they create an environment on the skin that favours the growth of beneficial microbes.

Esse uses prebiotics to selectively feed good microbes and includes LIVE probiotic microbes to make functional changes to the skin’s microbiome.

(Another big plus is that Esse is also certified organic, vegan and cruelty free)

The Esse Probiotic Facial

Olly, my skin care therapist explained the whole skincare process to me before starting.

She then began the facial using a whole range of Esse Skincare products that were specifically tailored for my sensitized skin – including sensitive toner, creams, gels and masks.

The treatment I received is designed to soothe and calm inflammation, resulting in a strengthened skin barrier.

Olly swears by Esse Skincare and if her beautiful skin is anything to go by, I am sold.

I will be doing another two Esse facials, but after one day, the redness and sensitivity I was experiencing is gone, so I can’t wait to see the other skin changes over the next few weeks.

RF and Cavitation Treatments

The third part of my Gut Cleanse is for anyone that wants to get rid of a few extra cm before December – the kind of cm that just won’t budge even if you exercise frequently – which I do.

I had an Radio Frequency (RF) and Cavitation treatment on my lower back area to get rid of a tiny little bit of fat – AKA love handles.

This treatment combines ultrasound and RF to alleviate cellulite, fatty deposits and sagging skin.

Cavitation uses ultrasound to ‘implode’ fat cells, causing them to leak and be absorbed by the body’s lymphatic and urinary systems and then excreted.

Radio frequency heats the tissues, stimulating sub-dermal collagen to revive and tighten the skin.

To simplify, cavitation is used to breakdown the fats, where as RF is used for toning.

Emilie placed this shower head looking object on my back and massaged it in using a specially formulated gel.

After a few minutes I started to feel warmth and heard a soft whistle sound in my ears. (Emile said it was the radio frequency, I prefer to think it was the fat cells screaming before they died)

This treatment is perfect if you want to get rid of cellulite, loose skin on your tummy, legs, arms and knees and saddle bags.

Before you roll your eyes and think “Cat you are too small to get this treatment” (I see you mom), bear in mind that sometimes no matter how much you exercise, pockets of fat remain, or cellulite just won’t budge.

Cavitation and RF can give you that extra bit of help you need to get rid of stubborn skin.

To be clear, you won’t be able to measure your success by how much fatty tissue you’ve lost, but instead by how many cm you’ve shrunk in your treatment area. (Emilie takes measurements beforehand)

I have had such an eye opening week during this cleanse and have learned so much about how to take care of my gut and skin in practical ways.

Possibly the most interesting thing I am taking from this experience is – what’s the point of investing in good quality products if you haven’t fixed the inside first?

If you want to get to the source of the problems you may be experiencing, you have to think about what you’re eating and the health of your gut.

I am looking forward to the next few weeks as the results really start to appear.

I will be taking everything I have learned and dedicating it to some really great blog pieces going forward that focus on gut health.

Thank you Nine Aesthetics Team!
