This morning’s breakfast recipe is for Grilled Honey and Rosemary Grapefruits, topped with a sprinkling of granola. You might be wondering why I would choose to grill grapefruits, but if you are a grapefruit lover, bear with me. 😁
Grapefruit, when grilled with something sweet, like honey, caramelizes and complements the fruits bittersweet flavour. By adding a few sprigs of rosemary, which has a very ‘woodsy’ scent, the grapefruit also gets a delicious toasty flavour.
We currently have quite a bit of grapefruit at home, (due to overlapping shopping excursions) which is why I decided to create Grilled Honey & Rosemary Grapefruits.
Winter is for Citrus
If you did not know, I really don’t like winter and in fact, the only reason I look forward to it at all is because of citrus.
Oranges, Grapefruits and Clemengolds. 🍊
There is something about Citrus that just makes me happy.
So, cooking and baking with Grapefruits and Oranges is one of the only things that get me through these dreary months – and this Grilled Grapefruit could brighten any wintery day.
I turned this into a more substantial meal by adding a sprinkling of granola, but you can also add a dollop of yoghurt if you’d like.
Grilled Honey and Rosemary Grapefruits
The most important part of the recipe is the sectioning of the grapefruit (running a knife along the rind as well as through the segments)
By sectioning the grapefruit the honey, rosemary and cinnamon mixture that you make beforehand can drip down to the bottom of the fruit.
It also makes it much easier to eat the grapefruits when they are cooked.
Get in that dose of Vitamin C this morning and Happy Grilling!
Love,
Cat

Grilled Honey & Rosemary Grapefruits
Equipment
- Baking Pan
- bowl
- knife
- Spoon
Ingredients
- 2 large grapefruits
- 1/3 cup runny honey Natures Choice
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 4 rosemary sprigs stem removed
Instructions
- Set the grill in your oven to 200°C
- Using a paring knife, carefully loosen grapefruit segments along the edge of the rind, taking care not to poke through the rind. Then, loosen segments from each other. I cut a little slice from the bottom of each grapefruit so that would stand easily.
- In a small bowl, mix honey, rosemary and cinnamon together and then spoon onto the grapefruit
- Place grapefruit halves on baking pan and grill for 3-5 minutes, until honey begins to brown
- Serve immediately with a sprinkling of granola or a dollop of yoghurt
