    {GF & DF} Berry Bliss Protein Balls

We are about to head to the Kruger on Tuesday and I am soooo excited to defrost from the freezing Jozi for a few days. The only thing I don’t like about the Kruger is how much snacks I can consume while we are out on game drives. I am a grazer and I eat small meals throughout the day, so this time I have made sure to pack as many healthy snacks as I can – raw nuts, dried fruit, pop chips and these Berry Bliss Protein Balls. They take about 10 – 15 minutes to make and are not only delicious and full of protein, but they are…

    Make Gluten-Free Fudgy Brownies

Today I am serving up these Gluten-Free Fudgy Brownies! You can top these with any chocolate you like – I used M&M’s this time – so that kind of makes them double chocolate right? If you ever really needed a reason to look forward to the weekend then this is it – Saturday the 7th of July is #WorldChocolateDay – an entire day dedicated to the greatest food ever invented. Let’s face it; life would be bitter without chocolate. You reach for something chocolatey when you are happy and want to treat yourself, or even if you are feeling sad and looking for a comforting snack. Chocolate is the one…

    {Gluten Free} Ama Kip-Kip Cake & Kasi Star Brands 2018

Last week I was invited to the Ask Afrika Kasi Star Brands Awards 2018/2019, recognising brands most loyally used by South Africa’s township consumers. It was there, when I got some inspiration for a proudly South African treat – this Ama Kip-Kip Cake. More on that in a moment… So the event I was speaking about was held at Zonki Shebeen in Muldersdrift and the food and treats were displayed in a way that made it look like you were visiting a trader table (you know the small ones that sell single cigarettes, HALLS, Chappies etc. 🙂 I grabbed about 4 packets of this very South African snack – coloured…

    Budget Friendly Basil Pesto Recipe

My recipe for a Budget Friendly Basil Pesto – perfect for pasta dishes and sandwiches and marinades. Pesto, from the Italian word pestare – to pound, is made by crushing several ingredients together. Basil Pesto, as the name suggests, uses Basil – my absolute favourite herb. A tweak I have made on the recipe is to use almond nuts instead of pine. The reason being – Pine Nuts cost a fortune! A 100g bag costs R120 and almonds are a third of that price and have a very similar taste and texture, so they make a good substitute in this recipe. So, let’s get started. Remember to tag me or…

{GF} Banana Bread with Gluhwein Poached Pears

Today, my inspiration comes from Warm Gluhwein – because it is the coldest day by far today!! This is my Gluten Free Banana Bread, baked around Gluhwein Poached Pears. Maybe it’s because it’s winter, or maybe it’s because I just really like wine, but I am addicted to this Fireside Gluhwein from Woolworths. It’s rich and fruity, with subtle aromas of cinnamon, cloves and all-spice. So, it only seemed natural to poach my pears with it and I am so happy with the result, because the banana bread smells so heavenly from this wine. The pears are aromatic, warm and soft once removed from the saucepan they were poached in,…
